The Diverse Staffing Legal Administrative Resource at this client location performs the following responsibilities:
Utilize software, standardized templates, and information contained in case files to generate letters, notices, writs of garnishment, writs of execution, remissions, demand letters, payment plans, complaints, summonses, and other similar documents that do not require legal interpretations but do require familiarity with financial litigation, collection procedures, and specialized legal terminology.
Coordinate with the Criminal Division and review debtors’ Presentence Reports (PSR). Use the PSR’s and information obtained from the case files to verify/update/input as needed and enter pertinent debtor information needed for collections purposes in the USAO’s case management software.
Process a variety of legal documents which are relatively routine or straightforward in content and format based on specific requests and instructions from the FLU Assistant United States Attorney and other members of the FLU.
Assist FLU Assistant United States Attorney and financial litigation agents by opening and closing cases, organizing legal data and other supportive material, and inputting data and other information using available case tracking system.
Docket all FLU enforcement events and collection activity codes, including court filings and communications with debtors, creditors, members of the public, and attorneys.
Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
US Citizen who has lived in the U.S. three out of the last five years
Ability to pass an in-depth criminal background check and credit check (no collections or recent bankruptcies) that could take up to 8 weeks.
Ability to pass a drug screen
Ability to prepare and correct reports and correspondence using word processing software
Knowledge of software used by the USAO (or the ability to acquire knowledge about the USAO’s computer systems)
Answer inquiries regarding case-related information as maintained in the database
